Speakers are an easy and affordable way to enjoy superior quality music in your vehicle. Your jeep has an in-built factory stereo that can transform your audio experience. However, you can also choose an after-market stereo for your jeep.

There are different kinds of jeep speakers you can purchase to enjoy an enriched audio experience. You can also choose to add the components as and when required.

Let us discuss different types of speakers in your jeep and how they can transform your audio experience.

There are two major categories of car speakers i.e., coaxial speakers and component speakers.

1. Component speaker

If you are looking for speakers with the best possible sound quality, then you should choose a component speaker. These speakers have multiple drivers that ensure superior sound quality.

The drivers or speakers work in their ideal frequency ranges to create a clear, accurate, enriched, and distortion-free sound. It also requires an external crossover to control the signal.

The speaker system consists of various elements that are installed at multiple locations in your car. A component speaker can be customized to suit your requirement. However, they are not the easiest to install.

Here are different speakers/ drivers with different functions and you can choose them as per your requirement.

• Subwoofers

Subwoofers produce low-frequency sound ranging between 20-200Hz. It plays heavy bass and loud music without any distortion.

A subwoofer adds depth and power to your audio system. They are generally placed under the seats or in the trunk of your car.

• Tweeters

Tweeters are small speakers that play high-frequency sounds ranging from 2000-20000 Hz. They provide clarity to sounds like cymbals, vocals, and instruments in the high-frequency range. These small speakers are placed higher in your car.

• Mid-range speakers

Midrange speakers, as the name suggests, control the middle range of the sound spectrum. These sound frequencies are not controlled by tweeters or woofers and range between 200-2000Hzs.

They add detail and clarity to your audio. These speakers are usually placed in the doors of your car.

2. Coaxial speakers

Coaxial speakers are also known as full-range speakers have all the elements in a single basket. These speakers are easily available in the market and have an easy installation process.

They have full-range sound built in a single contained unit. These speakers split the input signals into different bands of frequencies. The high, medium and low signals are allocated to different parts of the speaker.

A coaxial cable is available in different configurations.

• 2-band coaxial

The most common configuration of a full-range speaker is a 2-band coaxial. The basic speakers have a single driver. However, most jeep speakers have a sub speaker housed within the system.

It contains a large woofer and a tweeter. The woofer handles the low and mid-range of the sound spectrum, whereas the tweeters provide clarity by playing the highs.

• 3-band coaxial

A 3-band coaxial configuration has a midrange speaker along with a woofer and tweeter. It provides depth to your sound and provides better audio quality in comparison to 2-band speakers.

• 4-band coaxial

4-band coaxial configuration has a sub tweeter along with a woofer, mid-range speaker, and tweeter. A sub tweeter can play frequencies around and above 20000 Hz. It enriches the sound quality in your vehicle manifolds.

These are the different kinds of jeep speakers that you can choose for your vehicle. Now that you are aware of their functioning, you can choose them as per your requirement and provide a boost to your vehicle’s audio system.
